Pointless Ramblings

Today was pretty fun. We went to the Science Center because there is Titanic Exhibit that only lasts a couple more weeks. But we got there and the wait was really long, so we left. We were stuck downtown with nothing to do, and ended up doing a lot of random things. First, we went to the St. Louis Cathedral Basilica, which is this huge, old Catholic church. Almost every square inch of the inside is covered in mosaics made of tiny, 1-inch tiles. It's insane. I've never really been in a Catholic church before, except in weddings, so it was interesting to see the confession booth and a lot of other Catholic things. Then, we somehow ended up at Ted Drewe's, a famous frozen custard place and stood outside in the cold and ate ice cream. That was... cold. Then, Dana had the idea to go to this place she'd visited before called Gringo Jones, which is basically a huge garage sale. You can hardly find the front door of the place for all the huge metal sculptures of elephants or horses or palm trees. They have everything you could ever want - pottery, furniture, mirrors, Girl Scout cookies, tiles, ceramic lizards, antiques, jewelry... the list goes on. It's the most junk I've seen under one roof, but still very cool. We went to this place next door called The Bug Store. By the time we got there, they were closing in 10 minutes, but let us in anyway. We had no sooner walked when the employee there started handing us these ceramic puffins. You know, like the bird. We still don't know why, but we shall forever treasure these and remember the day that we were supposed to go to the Titanic exhibit but ended up amongst lots of junk instead. :)
