Today was Jonathan's first day at Camp Bullis, north of San Antonio. They will do three weeks of intense training and practicing mock warfare in the desert. It must really be out in the middle of nowhere, because he barely gets a signal on his cell phone.

Stolen from Sarah's Facebook page...

This is Will and his wife, Sarah.
Crazy story -- When Jonathan was in Basic, a girl in a Facebook group I was in messaged me and it turns out that she and her husband, Will, live in St. Louis. It also turns out that Will and Jonathan were the two oldest people out of hundreds there (Will is 27; Jonathan is 30)... and also older than most of their instructors!
In fact, Jonathan is known by the younger guys as "pops" or "the wise old owl." Apparently Will is known as "gramps" and gets made fun of because he's balding. :)

The guys both happen to be going into Security Forces, so while a lot of guys shipped out to different locations after Basic, they continued on the same team for training in San Antonio. We've also just learned that Will is to be stationed at Scott Air Force Base, making him and Jonathan the only two from their team (of hundreds) going there. What are the odds?! They've become great friends, and I think Jonathan is glad he has a new buddy that he can continue to hang out with when he returns home. His wife is pursuing a PhD at Washington University Medical School and is very nice also.
