Pointless Ramblings

Well, it's been an interesting past few days.
Summary: Got tickets to Cardinals game on Wednesday. Weather was hot (normal) while we grabbed some supper before the game. 10 minutes later, the sky was dark. Dust from the nearby construction area was blowing everywhere. A large chunk of metal from a building fell into the street about 30 feet from us. When we got to the stadium, it started storming. 40,000 people crowded into the concourse areas of the stadium while the 80 mph winds blew large trash cans and vendors' kiosks into the concourse and smashed them against the walls, taking out people in the process (I have a video of this; ask if you want me to send it). It was CRAZY. Waited 2-1/2 hours to wait the storm out and see if the game would be canceled. Finally left around 9:30. Found downed street signs and stop signs all the way to the parking garage. Went through several miles of areas without power on the way home. Got home, no power. Our glass top patio table was found in the neighbors yard; it had been blown over the fence and smashed against their house, shattering the glass in their yard. A huge limb off our tree was laying in the road. FUN. Spent the next 2 days without power in a cozy 88 degree house. 88% of customers in my zip code had no power, according to the Ameren website. Friday morning there was another big storm that knocked out power to just about everyone else in the area who did previously. We arrived home from work to a total war zone in our yard. Huge limbs and chunks of trees covered our yard. Had to work with 3 neighbors to devise a pulley system with 2 ropes to get a big, heavy limb down and avoid smashing the corner of our house or the A/C unit. FUN.

So anyway, that was a long summary. It's Saturday and we still have no power, so we're chilling in J-ville where there's good stuff, like electricity, air conditioning, food... They're saying we should have power back on Tuesday or Wednesday of this coming week, but they keep pushing it back, so who knows. Hope it comes back tomorrow, otherwise we may have to stay with a co-worker of mine or something. I miss my own bed. I definitely have a much greater appreciation of electricity!
